A step-by-step guide to packing and setting up the Deluxe My Cot portable toddler travel bed for overnight trips, with checkpoints for a safe, smooth bedtime away from home.

Quick answer

Pack the Deluxe My Cot travel bed by folding the cot and rolling the attachable sleeping bag together, then set it up on a flat, clear floor at your destination before your toddler is ready for sleep. Do a quick stability and gap check every time.

Why setup order matters on overnight trips

Arriving late with a tired toddler is the hardest test of any travel bed. If you unpack and assemble the cot while your child is already fussy, small problems like a missing sleeping bag or an uneven floor turn into a stressful bedtime. Setting up first, before your toddler is involved, keeps the process calm and gives you a chance to check the cot without distraction.

The Deluxe My Cot is a foldable, multi-functional cot with sturdy canvas and an included attachable sleeping bag. Those two pieces work together, so treat packing and setup as one routine rather than two separate tasks.

What to check before you leave home

A dry run at home is the cheapest way to avoid surprises. Fold and unfold the cot once, attach the sleeping bag, and let your toddler sit on it for a few minutes. This confirms the cot suits your child's size and that nothing is missing from the bag.

Because the cot is designed for sleepovers, naps, picnics, and camping, you may use it in very different places. Decide in advance whether the trip involves a hard floor, carpet, or a tent, and pack accordingly. The catalog does not list a separate carry bag or a weight limit, so check your own cot's packaging and instructions for those details rather than assuming.

Step-by-step: pack and set up the Deluxe My Cot

Do a home trial run: Set the cot up once at home, attach the sleeping bag, and let your toddler test it. Common mistake: skipping this and discovering a missing piece at the hotel. If anything feels loose or missing, resolve it before you pack.
Pack the cot and sleeping bag together: Fold the cot fully and keep the attachable sleeping bag in the same bag or bundle so one cannot be left behind. Common mistake: packing the sleeping bag separately in a suitcase. Label or color-code the bundle if you travel often.
Choose and clear the setup spot: Pick a flat, clear area away from sharp furniture edges and cords, then set up the cot before your toddler is ready for bed. Common mistake: assembling on an uneven or cluttered floor. Check the floor with your hand for slope or grit before unfolding.
Unfold and lock the cot: Open the cot fully and press down on the frame until it sits flat and stable, following the product instructions. Common mistake: leaving a hinge partially open, which makes the cot wobble. Push gently on each corner to confirm the cot does not rock.
Attach the sleeping bag: Fasten the included sleeping bag to the cot according to the instructions, smoothing out wrinkles. Common mistake: letting the bag hang loose where a toddler could tangle in it. Recheck the attachment after your child climbs in.
Do a final safety check: Confirm the cot is stable, the sleeping bag is secure, and the area around it is clear. Common mistake: rushing this check because your toddler is already sleepy. Make this 30-second check the last thing you do before bedtime.
